Horny Biker Slut

Well now... if there's ever been a comic book title that tells you everything you need to know, it's John Howard's infamous Horny Biker Slut. Created in the early 90s and published by Last Gasp, these black and white floppies are filled with insane amounts of total smut. Do not mistake this for cheesecake... this is pure rotgut pornography.

Most of the stories involve the Nameless Slut, the comic's titular (and TITular) character getting involved in all manner of depraved adventures. For example, in one story she's on her way to help someone (sister? I can't quite remember) and gets sidetracked in a truck stop bathroom by fucking a whole line of men. When she realizes she's gonna be late, she cuts them off and starts to leave. This one asshole demands to get fucked since he wanted in line, so she beats the shit out of him and makes him clean all the toilets with his tongue.

That's the kind of comic book this is. And honestly it's quite glorious. In fact, if you squint real hard and look at the letters pages you'll eventually find a drawing by little old me.

I like Howard's cartooning quite a bit. And this is the comic where I discovered DB Velveeda, so there's also that. Good nasty stuff to watch out for if you can find 'em. Last Gasp tends to have back issues of tons of stuff, so maybe they have this. I still have all the copies I bought in the 90s.

The 90s Called...

Doing some Spring cleaning and ran across a bunch of old 90s art. Most interesting was a batch of Blacksheep work. Well, copies of the work, anyway. I'm sure the originals are buried in a deeper level or in another castle.

Blacksheep was a sex comic I created between 1995 and 1997. Let's just call it 1996. I was 25 and feeling my loin stirring, as nobody says. I was heavily influenced by erotic comics such as Ironwood and Birdland. I wanted to draw that shit too. So I did.

My thing was drawing fat girls. Plump ladies, etc. It's a little embarrassing to say that stuff out loud (and here I am posting it online). I don't like to fetishize people based on their immutable traits. I don't fetishize fat girls. But I enjoy the way they look and feel. I think people of any size or shape have beauty, but I'm particularly drawn to the fullness of the human figure.

Anyway, that's a whole other topic, isn't it?

Blacksheep ran for 2 issues. Honestly, I thought it was just 1 issue. I forgot I did 2 of them. I'm not going to share the sex scenes here as this is just an R-rated nudie art blog, not a porn blog. I don't really want to do sex comics anymore. I haven't done one in a long time. Nothing against them, I enjoy a good sex romp (check out my post about Muffin Top). I just prefer to live in that R-rated zone where naked tits are fine but dicks going in and out of vaginas is softly avoided.

Here's some Blacksheep work that I feel comfortable sharing. It's old art, obviously, but a lot of it stands up and I am proud of it. Hell, I might even say I've fallen off in some areas. I don't know. Back then I was working almost entirely with pens such as Pigma Microns, worrying over those lines. I didn't lean into the brush pen until a bit later.

I don't want to go back to just using pens. I strongly prefer brushes. They feel sexy in my hand, honestly. The fat to thin, the soft feedback, the wetness. I love 'em.

But back then the pen ruled my hand.

One other observation I made while looking through this stuff is that I was extremely worried about being censored or getting into trouble. I have SO MANY warnings in these books about it being for adults only and shit. But then I realized cartoonist Mike Diana was convicted in 1994 for creating offensive comics. He was sent to jail for a few days, fined, and had to jump through a bunch of hoops such as counseling, courses on journalism ethics, had to keep away from kids, and wasn't allowed to draw. Part of his sentence was that the law could just enter any time and seize any art he made. FUCKING BULLSHIT.

But it happened. And it can happen again, especially in the current USA landscape. The fascists are in power and many of them are prudish religious assholes looking for any excuse to bring down the hammer of state authority.

I fucking hate authoritarians.

Here's some pinup art to cleans the thought.

I must have looked at a photo or something.

This one is lovely, right?

I drew this comic in pencil. It gets dirty pretty fast.

I think this one is my fave.

Digitally erased the paste up lines on this.

Completely forgot this one.

One of my favorites.

Muffin Top

I had the great pleasure of stumbling upon Abe Snake's Muffin Top Saturday Morning Adult Comics. I'm pretty sure it was by way of Instagram, then I ordered issues 1 and 2 direct from Abe. Got them in the mail, signed, and love 'em.

First vibe: Birdland. There's some strong Hernandez energy in these pages. Clean art, lean and mean, black and white, strong and confident use of lines and shadow. Very nice. Focus is on these plump lead characters, but he mixes it up with characters of different sizes and shapes.

I've only read issue 1 and 2. The story is about these characters who run a bakery and are using alien stuff in the frosting. I'll leave it there... you can read it for yourself.

I love that. Highly recommended.

Note: This is 100% sex comic. Not for kids. Horny as fuck. Get yourself a copy now.

Cavewoman!

Cavewoman is a comic book character created by Bud Root, first appearing in 1993. She has appeared in many comic books since and has been drawn not only by Bud Root but also, officially, by Devon Massey, Frank Cho, Art Adams, and Rob Durham.

I think I saw a Cavewoman image long ago in some comic advertisement or perhaps in a catalog. I can't remember. At the time I just thought "oh another bad girl/good girl comic*". And yeah. She was. And that's fine. It just felt like the 90s had a glut of them. I stuck up my nose... meanwhile I was drawing erotic comics and reading Birdland. Go figure.

Here's the thing about Cavewoman: I don't have any idea who this character really is. I have never read an entire Cavewoman comic. Who reads them?? I just love the art. I really, really enjoy the look of this character. What's not to like, right?

My preference is for Bud Root's art of the character, but Massey isn't bad. And of course Cho and Adams are quite well-known. I'm not as familiar with Rob Durham.

Some Devon Massey Cavewoman art:

*You know... I just realized I skipped the entire 90s comics scene so hard I don't even know the difference between "good girl" and "bad girl" comics. Let's do a quick search and learn...

Huh. So good girl art refers to classic pinup style and sexy comics art. Bad girl art is... also that, but the characters are not supposed to be "good". I guess. Cavewoman is good girl because she's not trying to be voluptuous or evil, while Vampirella is a bad girl because she is voluptuous and evil. Or something like that.

Frostlick Comic in Color

I decided to colorize this cartoon and it dawned on me that this is Frostlick... a character I've had kicking around in my brain for years. Her genesis was actually 1982 or thereabouts. There was a little fantasy art poster I got from school featuring a white-haired female and a dragon. Of course in that version I doubt she dressed like this. And she was not quite so "robust".

4 Times the Charm

Here's a goofy little bit I did long ago.

I haven't updated this blog in a couple weeks. I normally schedule posts way ahead of time but I let it slip. I'll still be posting here, just maybe not every single day. If I get myself back into a pinup mood you can bet your ass I'll hammering the dog, as they say.

Barbs

This was the first panel of what was meant to be a webcomic. This is the only panel I ever drew... thus no webcomic.

Brog Nog Color

I worked on coloring this 8 page comic years ago. I love the look of it but can't muster the will to finish coloring it.

Catgirl Mojo and Mini Rant

A really long time ago I tried to maintain a website called catgirlmojo.com. It didn't last, but it was a fun project.

I used it to post all my anthropomorphic pinup work and a weekly webcomic. But y'know... I am not really cut out for that sort of high maintenance artistic lifestyle. Plus I'm not a furry so I am not dedicated to funny animal art. I just treat it like any other kind of art and do it when the mood strikes.

This was also the era before I started drawing digitally. I have mixed feelings about this.

I absolutely love drawing on my tablet. It's liberating. I don't have to hunch over my paper. I can see what the fuck I'm doing. I don't have to buy art tools. And Jesus fuck have you seen how expensive art tools are these days? Markers I used to buy for $2.99 (expensive then) are closer to $8 now. Holy fuck.

Maybe that's why I'm seeing so many artists doing pencil or ballpoint pen work on Instagram. Or maybe it's just the algorithm clocking me.

Anyhoo. There's a charm to drawing on paper that you can't capture digitally. I miss drawing on paper for that reason. Also... I have no originals to sell from my digital era. I can do prints, sign them, and sell them. But you ain't getting an original because, y'know... it ain't there. /firstworldrant

Dirty Treasures

Over on the main blog I talked about uncovering treasures in my storage totes. Some of the treasures were salty. I'll try to share more as I can but for now here's a little bit of what I found hidden out in yon shed.

First, to revisit my D.B. Velveeda post, I found these.

Brad Foster art kicks ass. I wonder if he's still active? I need to check.

Oh look, I'm in this one. The value plummets!

D.B. the King Velveeda

I was into the 90s zine scene and through publications like Factsheet5 I discovered Quimby's Queer Store (now just Quimby's, I think). And through that I discovered the wonderful little dirty world of D. B. the King Velveeda.

I have some Velveeda comix somewhere in my stashes. Probably haven't laid eyes on them in 25+ years.

Before I discovered Bodé I discovered Velveeda. I don't know if Velveeda was inspired by Bodé or not, but they both hit the same kind of beat for me. Reckless, carefree, dirty as fuck, and lovely to behold.

When I dig out whatever Velveeda goodies I happen to have I'll scan and post 'em up. Real gems of underground comix, if you ask me.

Now... I'm not sure what's going on with D. B. today. I know that he was sued by Kraft way back in maybe the late 90s because he was using the name Velveeda (maybe VelVeeda) and they didn't want their cheese product sullied by porn. He also had a website on
Geocities called Cheesygraphics. That didn't help his case, I'm sure.

He was pissed. I remember he was posting a lot of anti-Kraft material such images of their cheese product with the label "Krapt". But if you look for that stuff it's hard to find. Kraft is a behemoth and D. B. is an underground comix maker. They likely slaughtered him in court. But I don't know the full story.

If anyone has more info, post a comment. I'm curious. I'm gonna do a little digging myself when I have the energy.
