Drew this one on a piece of scrap printer paper and colored her with some old Prismacolor markers. Sometimes I miss using my pens and markers but going digital was a huge benefit to me in a lot of ways so I'll never go back. But sometimes I crack out the old tools.
I'm trying to get the kids to go digital with their doodles and drawings, but I guess pens and pencil is enough for now. One of them is really good, we'll see if she sticks with it. I don't push too hard, I'm subtle. Like there are stacks of sketch books and micron pens all over. :-) I stuff manga and comics I think they'll like in with their school stuff. Squirrel Girl and such.
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a writer myself, but learned enough drawing over the last 6 months to get them going. Some advice you gave, about drawing from reference and 300dpi minimum for digital art, I loaded into long term memory.
I am a fairly low key father, maybe too much. I don't know. I don't push my kids. My daughter is drawing a lot lately and getting really good at it. I try to encourage her. My son can draw, but rarely does it. Too into video games for drawing. But I am hoping he's hitting an age where he'll start focusing on other things. Kids find their way, they just need some guidance.
Deleteyeah, the way I figure it is I introduce them to a huge variety of things, and tell them about stuff I did, stuff their relatives have done, etc...and then they have to choose the to walk the path. I think if they don't choose it, they won't stick to it anyway. Self ownership and all of that.
